New look – what do you think?

For the past few months I’ve been working on a new look for my website – I wanted something simpler, clean, crisp and that symbolized both myself and the direction I am going with my writing.

What do you think?

If there’s some bugs – oops! Let me know in the comments so I can take a look and try to fix. This time I did the changes myself rather than hire it out – I know, I know, crazy, right?

When life gets busy and stressful, I tend to fill my downtime with projects to keep my mind busy. This was one such project while I was writing two books, dealing with a family crisis for the past year (mental health issues) and dealing with my own health issues (migraines). Rebuilding a website is quite a task and one I don’t recommend unless you like to tackle challenges – which I seem to enjoy more than I should.

I love branding. I love creating a message through images, graphics, colors and words. My site before was soft, the message warm and heartfelt. I’m still heartfelt – dealing with issues that hit the heart but I wanted clean, modern images that reflect me and where I am in life. The computer, the camera, the macarons…it’s all me. The images are still warm and still me.

I’m an aspiring writer, currently designing a site to showcase who I am as a writer and I’m looking at various authors websites for inspiration. Yours is one of the best I’ve seen. My site is very different from yours but it’s given me some clear ideas on how I can improve my design – thank you.

I think the new design is great. Much cleaner, and although I enjoyed the old site too, this one allows the viewer to focus much more on the content. Good work!
