Elena Aitken has a new novel out – and I’ve been waiting forever for it to be released! I first read an early copy way back when but since then, I knew she’d been working, revising, strengthening this story…and I’ve been waiting to read the final version.
WOW. Like seriously…if you are a lover of women fiction novels, of getting into the head and heart of characters, you are going to love this one. I’m not just saying that because Elena is a good friend and because I’ve co-written 3 novels with her (well, that’s part of the reason I’m saying this but I’m also giving her a shout out because it’s one freaking amazing book!).
So…simple steps to enter to receive a free copy of this book.

Right now, with the world in chaos and everyone staying at home as much as possible, we have a few constants we can focus on. For me, it’s stress baking, chocolate eating, video gaming and reading. I’m stress baking treats…bread, cookies, rice krispie treats etc. I’m chocolate eating anything that is ‘milk chocolate and crispy (and really loving the Russel Stover Crispy Chocolate Bunny right now). I found an new video game to play -the Hobbit on PS4 (so mind numbing, which is perfect) and reading…lots and lots of reading.
What are you doing to get through this time? What are the things you find yourself doing every day that gets your mind off the news and this new life we have to get used to?
I am working from home right now but I have been reading a lot and redoing my kitchen.
I keep busy by checking in on my mom in nursing home ,cleaning, cooking and my best thing to get my mind off of news is diving into a great read….thanks for the chance
Read , my parents passed away 3 weeks apart . So I read , read and more reading
I am doing a lot of reading?. Also helping the hubs renovate our bathroom, trying to keep in touch with family and friends via email, text, FaceTime, Marco Polo and of course phone calls?❤️ I hope to get to some sewing projects this week and some crocheting to add to craft sale bin❤️
I traveled by car for 8 hours to take care of my 2 grandsons (ages 8 and 18 months) while their parents work full time at home. My son-in-law is also going to law school full time. In the 3 weeks I’ve been here, I read 2 novels, a magazine and did Suduko, went on a few walks while keeping social distance. Most people moved over since I was pushing a stroller, but if not, I went in the street. There’s been quite a learning curve getting Zoom webinars to work on an old computer and assignments on SeeSaw. It took a week before classroom studies were online for the 8 year old. We are eating well even if everything on the list is not available. An ice cream cake was picked up today for the 8 year old’s birthday in 3 days.
I have been staying home for so long now…since 1995, that it is second nature to me. I am a homebody and am more comfortable there anyway. I read, watch TV, play on my computer, take care of my pets. I go out on occasion for grogeries or food.
I’ve been reading a lot. I ha e started on my to be read list. I hope I get some read. I have been adding to this list for so long now I’m happy to have started reading on it.
I’ve been trying to exercise everyday. If the weather is nice, it walking outside! I also enjoy reading. I’m working from home. I’m spending time with family. I’m listening to music. I’m cuddling up with my kitty, Boomer. Thanks for the offer to giveaway a book. It would be great to have this!
My adjustment is minimal as I have long been a shut-in due to a chronic illness. I enjoy staying current with my far flung family and friends via FaceBook, staying current with what is going on in the world via the TV and internet news. Watching movies and binge watching tv series on netflix, prime video, hulu, etc. and, of course, lots and lots of reading. Thank heavens for my eyes and hands. I feel blessed to live in an age where everything we truly need is just a few keystrokes away.
I am in the same boat as you and in addition to what you are doing, I also love sitting in the sun and seeing everything blooming. 🙂
I’m playing board games with my family and finding the silver lining during this difficult time! I check on my parents in FL every day (they are 70+) and make sure they are staying safe. I also try and avoid the news and enjoy the time of togetherness with my husband, two teens and two pugs!
My parents are in FL right now too – snowbirds, waiting for their Ontario trailer park to open. I worry about them constantly. Hugs!
I am reading, working on puzzles, scrapbooking, watching TV. I also take a walk when the weather is nice. I also exercise because my gym is closed!
I tried a puzzle. After 3 weeks and not even half finished, I accepted defeat. lol
I am taking care of my mom who just had a stroke. I am also going for walks which help to clear my mind. I can’t listen to the tv so I am reading and my friends are all keeping in touch with me to make sure I take time for me and that I am doing ok too.
Taking time for you has to be so important…don’t let your own well run dry! I’ll be praying for both you and your mom!
I have been reading and playing games on the computer. I also crochet and have to care for my grandson a few hours a day as my daughter works at the VA.
You must love spending that time with your grandson!
I read a lot, watch some TV, work jigsaw puzzles and play with the puppy. Avoid the news as much as possible.
Right now, I am reading,m crocheting, eating way to much as Mom just keeps cooking and baking and counting the days until I can go home to our house! We took my mom in law on a trip to New Zealand and Fiji just before the world went crazy, got stranded for four days in Fiji and now self isolating at her house before we can go on home! We are on day 12 tomorrow??. Love Mom but oh I am ready for my own space but feel bad that she will be back to being in her house alone. My hubby’s three siblings live in the same community though so that will help her.
LOL on needing your own space! Hugs!
Trying a lot of new recipes. Awesome that I’ve heard from long lost friends thru social media….valuable time to reach out! Alone but feeling loved!
Reading and trying not to listen to the news so much
Cooking and baking waaaaay too much, but it’s kind of fun and I’m finding some wonderful new recipes.
What all have you been baking??!!!
Taking care of my dogs, napping and reading
I’ve been praying, reading, crocheting a baby blanket, and making cards.
Staying busy is a coping mechanism for me too.
Reading, puzzles, family game nights and spring cleaning! We also own a lot of property so we take a daily 3 mile walk to get fresh air and clear the mind! We only watch enough news to see the weather so we know if we can get our walks I!
That is one thing I miss about living in the country…the fresh air, the space…enjoy those walks!
I follow the same routine as before (coffee, clean, talk to family and read). I also stay away from the t.v, if I listen to the radio it’s a Christian station but I truly believe the most important thing is that when this whole thing started I gave it to God.
We listen to a lot of worship music too
I am reading, baking, gardening, and writing. I also connect with my writing group on Zoom.
I know so many groups who are doing that! It’s important to stay connected!
Unfortunately, I am an essential worker and have to go to work every day. It’s like a ghost town at my work though because many can work from home. I pray every day and leave this in gods hands.
I’ll keep you in my prayers too!
I’m relying a lot on my faith and focus on the things that I have to be grateful for. I’m going into work and in my free time, read, play with the fur babies and work on the yard. I touch base with my family and friends to see how they are doing.
I have been cleaning, cooking, reading, and working out.
Praying, cleaning, reading, cooking and attempting to not worry.
I’m trying to read and watch tv but still finding it hard to concentrate. I’ve always been a worrier!
Reading, reading, reading!
Trying to not watch the news.
I am hiking with my dog, reading and taking a free course online from Yale.
Mainly trying to not kill my husband because he is bored and not used to not interacting with other people daily.
I have a family like that…it’s hard being an introvert here.
I’ve been busy doing my spring cleaning, reading, crafting, sewing, raking on pretty days.
I’ve been working from home. Trying to get used to my new “normal”. I’ve also been watching a whole lot of daytime tv which keeps me company while I’m working so I don’t feel so alone at home. In my downtime, I’ve been reading some amazing books!
What’s been your favorite read so far?
I am reading and reviewing, going for walks with my dog, doing some spring cleaning, and just making the most of each day. Trying to have a positive outlook on life, as I think that is just as important as everything else.
PS I have always hoped there would be at least one more “Halfway Series” books. They were all great.
We’d thought about doing another one, I think we even had it planned and then life happened 🙁
I’m reading a lot, playing Candy Crush twice a day, staying in touch with friends via the computer. I’ve tried to do some quilting as well.
I am praying constantly , my dad went from nursing home to hospital kidney failure. Reading and doing puzzles to help the worrying…
Carlene, I’m so sorry! I’ll be praying for your dad!
oh…quilting! My grandma taught me to quilt as a child! I still have the one I made with her 🙂
I still go to work everyday. I’m the manager of our high school cafeteria. We’re making grab and go lunches and breakfasts for our students who need them. In just 2 weeks, our number of students who have signed up have doubled, and I’m sure the numbers will continue to rise. Remember to wash your hands, don’t touch your face and stay home! Stay safe and God bless us all.
I remember those years as a teen. I was able to work during my lunches – which helped to make sure I had a lunch each day. Our schools are closed now until September.
I am a preschool teacher to 21 fabulous 4 and 5 year olds. School is closed and am no longer getting paid but providing “my kids” with weekly videos from home to give them a sense of normalcy in this crazy times. Walk 2 to 3 miles every day with my daughters.
Walking helps to keep the sanity!
I walk 3 miles everyday , then do some yard work and house work, then take some time for me in the afternoon by reading , writing or having a coffee ☕️. Thanks for the opportunity
I am working from home. Unfortunately, I spend a lot of time on fb. I am trying to read more.
I need to make walking a regular thing in my schedule. I tend to go when it’s nice out…and right now it’s cold and its been snowing 🙁
I am reading a lot, knitting an Afghan for my granddaughter in college and binge watching TV. I can’t really buy books because they’re so expensive and I don’t have an iPad so I have been getting all my books from the library which is now closed. HELP ‼️
You should look at getting an e-reader, if its in the budget! What about listening to audio books?
Working and then working some more. I actually put in the same, if not more, hours as I did when I was commuting to the work. Looking forward to it maybe slowing down at some point.
I hope you’re able to slow down a little!
Since I sometimes feel like Bill Murray from Groundhog Day – same people and situations every day – I try to pick something off my “to do” list to change up the day. Reading is always on my list and I loved the books you wrote with Elena – Halfway to christmas and Halfway to nowhere. I just got notice that her new book was coming out and have it saved on my list! Thanks!
I am working from home, have lots of zoom meetings, play with our new puppy and read. I have started taking walks (nice weather days) with our puppy around noon to tire him out and give me some exercise.
I’m so glad you enjoyed those stories!!! I have list on the fridge that says try something new every day…whether it’s a new recipe or I clean a different room. lol
Since my business has been deemed essential I’m still working, but other than that I’m at home; reading or cleaning or organizing and uncluttering!
I am purging closets and drawers. I am amazed at all the items I have found stashed somewhere in the bottom of a drawer or floor of the closet. I love listening to audiobooks because I can multi task that way.
I’ve been doing yoga daily and trying to do something productive every day and get outside on days that are sunny.
I love cooking/baking taking a walk around the block. My daughter has to work from home so after she is done we have a glass of wine and than watch a few episodes of Revenge (2011).
I’m running just about everyday now. It helps with the anxiety of the unknown.
I try to vary my schedule and not get in a rut.
Trying to walk outside everyday, connect with family members everyday, and try not to look at social media and news less each day. Some days it’s harder than other.
I’ve been cooking, and looking up recipes for new ideas.
I am working from home and reading whenever I get a chance. I have read more books in the last month then I have in a while. I am also helping my in-laws with groceries and making them dinners on the weekends.
Reading and crocheting and taking care of the household!
I’ve been reading a lot and doing a little cleaning.
Been reading a lot and taking the dogs on Lon walks.
I’ve focused more on exercising. I picked a few virtual runs to focus on. I also listen to more audiobooks. That was never “my thing” but it helps me get through the day while I am working from home.
Forgot my email lol
Been reading a lot
I’m focusing on fighting my double pneumonia and have kids to focus on. I plan on getting a job. Nuff said. ?
Oh no Beth!!!! I’ll be praying for you!
I’m working a lot from home…other than that I’m spending time with my family and walking my puppers!
Thanks so much!
Trying to get thru my tbr pile…and also doing little things around the house. Like cleaning filters in everything lol cleaning the fridge and throwing away clutter. Things I’ve been wanting to do but didn’t have the time. Well now I do!
Thank you for the chance!! ♥️?
I have been catching up on my reading…trying to shorten my stack of books which is taking over the bedroom. I am laughing every day and thinking positive.
Reading, crocheting, walking when it’s nice enough and FaceTime with my granddaughter.
I am reading more for sure. Playing with the dogs & enjoying having my husband working from home. Also organizing my office- something I’ve been wanting to do for a while
I’m doing a lot of FaceTime with my 5 grandchildren.. Playing cards with my husband who has bee n off work now for 2 weeks.
I am reading, embroidering on a baby quilt for my 3rd grandbaby to be born at the end of July.
I have worked from home for the past 3 years, so fortunately I don’t have to get use to that. However, not that my daughter is here all day I take the time to read at lunch and go on walks at lunch. I’m starting to craft more and trying not to eat extra!!
I’m doing quite a bit of reading, as I can’t work at the moment, I do bar work part-time, I also care for my dad, which takes up most of my spare time. I don’t have time to be bored…
I do not watch the news. As a nurse, I follow the protocols put forth by my employer and try to remain positive for my residents. When I am home I do what I have always enjoyed. My pets, my crafts, binge watching netflix. I do not dwell on the horrors of the world right now.
Dianne, best advice I’ve heard yet!! Stay safe and thank you for doing all you can for those you take care of!
