Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to travel. Africa, German, Scotland…it was always a dream of mine.

Then I married young, had children young and my life went on an unchartered path that led me away from travel. Until now.

Last night I realized I’m a wee bit addicted. What caused it I wonder? Maybe the trip to Scotland when I was a teenager? Or possibly being in Brugge, Belgium and walking the streets and tasting the divine chocolate there.

What I think really made me realize my addiction is the countless hours I spend online researching hotels, flights, things to do…and when I say countless, I mean countless.

Normally on this blog, I write about writing, books and chocolate recipes. I hope you don’t mind – but I’m going to add travel to the mix. I’ve decided to fully embrace my #travelholic tendencies – just like I have with my #chocoholic passion.

You know you’re a #travelholic when…
~Googlemaps is your homepage
~It takes you weeks to figure out a hotel to stay at – meanwhile you have sheets of data on each hotel you’ve checked out
~You’re attracted to the latest backpack, luggage piece or purse
~Your calendar is outlined with planned trips for the year (and it’s never enough)
~You keep a list of places you want to go and things you want to do
~You just ordered a scratch map of the world
~You see ‘seat sale’ and you immediately begin planning where you could go
~Your outfits and shoes are planned by your trips

I do all this and more. Trust me. I have a notebook for all my trips that I go one. Paris, Brugge and London weren’t enough. Next year I’m heading to Italy for two weeks … but I can’t stay in just Italy, right?

Yesterday was spent booking flights to Laguna Beach, California. A beautiful place with lots of sand surf. You should see the list of hotels I have that I spent time researching. I’m a bit of a diva when it comes to hotels…I want to be pampered and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

I have a calendar for all my writing dates – when books are due, release dates etc…and now it’s filling up with travel dates as well…thankfully, the majority of my travels are writing related – except for two amazing trips – one is a cruise and the other is DisneyWorld and a Disney Cruise. I’m so excited!

It’s hard to believe two months ago now we were just in Disneyland. Time flies…I need some more pixie dust…
