I’m very excited to introduce (or reintroduce) to you C.J. Charmichael! Not only is she one of my favorite authors, but she’s also a dear friend and the one who first told me about her Love at the Chocolate Shop series! This series has 12 completed stories that are now available and I hope you’ll pick C.J’s up (her books are book 1 and book 12). There’s no free book today, but I let me know if you’ve read this series below!

A little background on C.J. …

USA Today Bestselling author C. J. Carmichael has written over 45 novels in her favorite genres of romance and mystery. She has been nominated twice for the Romance Writers of America RITA Award, as well as RT Bookclub’s Career Achievement in Romantic Suspense award, and the Bookseller’s Best honor.

She gave up the thrills of income tax forms and double entry book-keeping in 1998 when she sold her first book to Harlequin Superromance. Since then she has published over 35 novels with Harlequin and is currently working on a series of western romances with Tule Publishing. In addition C. J. Carmichael has published several cozy mystery series as an Indie author.

When not writing C. J. enjoys family time with her grown daughters and her husband. Family dinners are great. Even better are the times they spend hiking in the Rocky Mountains around their home in Calgary, and relaxing at their cottage on Flathead Lake, Montana.

Love at the Chocolate Shop Books….

MELT MY HEART, COWBOY – Who is the handsome cowboy who comes into small town Marietta’s chocolate shop every week to buy a box of chocolates? More importantly…who is he buying the chocolates for? These are the questions sales clerk Rosie Linn asks herself as she waits for her sadly neglected childhood home to sell so she can pursue an exciting new career in L.A.
Rosie finds out the answers the day rugged ranch hand Brant Willingham introduces himself and asks for her help in managing the care of his younger sister. Brant’s mother has recently died, leaving him the sole guardian of eighteen-year-old Sara Maria–who has been a puzzle to Brant ever since she began exhibiting signs of autism at age two.
Rosie and Brant come up with a plan. She’ll help with his sister if he handles repairs and a new paint job for her old house. It seems the perfect solution, but a new dilemma is created when the couple start spending time together. Brant discovers he doesn’t want Rosie to sell and leave, and Rosie fears she will have to choose between love and her dreams.

SWEET DREAMS, BABY – Three weeks ago, Portia Bishop mailed a letter to the father of her baby, Saddle Bronc rider Austin Bradshaw. It’s a letter she should have written a long time ago-like when she first found out she was pregnant, shortly after she ended things with Austin, dropped out of college, and went running to her family in Marietta, Montana.
Austin has loved Portia since he first laid his eyes on her in college. A year ago, he convinced her to do something impulsive and very romantic. Now, as he opens her letter, Austin has two reasons to return to Marietta-win back the heart of the woman he still loves and convince her he’s a good bet for a forever man and father.

CHECK OUT THE LOVE AT THE CHOCOLATE SHOP SERIES TODAY!!

NOW LET’S GET TO KNOW C.J. …

Let’s talk Chocolate. What’s your favorite kind and if all the Love at the Chocolate Shop authors got together – what would you bring as a dessert?

I try to love dark chocolate because it has the least amount of sugar but I secretly love milk chocolate the best. Of course I will eat any kind of chocolate quite happily! I would love to gather all the chocolate shop authors together–what a terrific idea! I think I would make them the rum and eggnog truffles from Sweet Dreams Baby. I created that recipe myself and it truly is delicious!

How many books did you write in the series and who is your fav character?

I wrote two books for the series: Book 1, Melt My Heart Cowboy and Book 2, Sweet Dreams Baby. It’s going to be very difficult for me to pick a favorite character. I am deeply attached to both Sage Carrigan Dell (who owns the Copper Mountain Chocolate Shop) and Portia Bishop (who drops out of college and comes to work at her aunt’s chocolate shop) because they are both continuing characters from my Carrigans of the Circle C series. But I would have to put Austin Bradshaw up there, too. Austin is the hero in Sweet Dreams Baby and he’s a very sexy combo of cowboy and book nerd. He also happens to be a fabulous guy in other ways too. (Read the book and you’ll see what I mean.)

If you could sit with Sage for an hour, what would you talk about?

Ha! Love this question. I’d talk about chocolate, of course, and try to tease all her chocolatier secrets out of her!

What did you love the most about writing in this series?

The town of Marietta Montana, Sage’s chocolate shop and all the chocolate shop characters seem so real to me. Writing the series epilogue (which is included at the end of Sweet Dreams Baby) was the highpoint of working on this series for me. It was my chance to give a loving goodbye to the world we’d create and to set it all free in the universe of imagination, hopefully to live on forever.

What’s next for you?

This fall I’m returning to my mysteries, writing the last two books in my Bitter Roots series.
