When I see one of these tempting treats on a dessert plate – I can’t help but reach for it! Did you know that the origin of these are from Nanaimo, BC? I love Canadian treats! I’ve never personally been to Nanaimo but I want to. There’s a beautiful little resort there that I’d love to escape to with my laptop and write while staring out at the ocean.

This year as I bake, I’m doing something a little different. I’m normally a control freak when it comes to my baking and I have a really hard time ‘letting go’ and not stepping in to ‘help’ my kids as they attempt to help me. But this year I’m doing a ‘no hands’ approach and letting them do the heavy work while I make sure they read the directions. How’s that working out you’re asking? Well…my middle daughter made rice krispie squares but forgot the butter. FORGOT THE BUTTER! But we’re still eating them – they’re a bit dry, but still oh so good ๐Ÿ™‚

There are a lot of different methods to making these. I haven’t found one that ‘doesn’t’ taste good though. Here’s my recipe that I love to use – but you might have a different one (and if you do, I’d love for you to share it!)
