As long as I can remember, I have always been enthralled by the stories of those who have served. As a child, I would try to get my grandfather to tell me, I would listen to my great-grampa’s tales and I would read.
I’ve always read. Read about those who survived the war, read the stories of those who didn’t, marvelled at the strength of humanity in the face of evil. I’ve been humbled more than I can remember by the love, sacrifice and honor of those who placed the needs of many above their own.
My bookshelf is full of such stories. I love to find journals of those who remember. I am honored to say I have loved those who have served. Today is a day to remember, to honor and to listen to the stories around you.
From the bottom of my heart, I say thank you. Thank you to those who have served. Thank you to those who wanted to but were unable to. Thank you to those who gave up their lives for others. Thank you.
