It’s August 1st and I’m amazed at how quickly this summer has gone. It seems surreal almost – there’s so much I’ve wanted to do and experience and yet it feels like I’ve done none of those things. Two of my daughters are now working, my youngest is constantly bored and I have a book due in one month. Yikes!

July was an amazing month – I signed a new contract for a release in Spring 2016, celebrated my wedding anniversary, my birthday, had lunch with my amazing editorial team at Lake Union Press in New York, rowed a boat in Central Park and fell in love with my story I’m writing.

July is always my favorite month and this year lived up to my expectations:
We ate s’mores.
Worked in the garden.
Read outside.
Slept outside.

Went for long walks.
Made homemade ice cream.
Stayed up all night watching movies.
Danced in sprinklers.
Watched fireworks.
Wrote our names with sparklers.
Dipped our toes in a lake.

Hiked crazy trails.

Now August on the other hand…between my deadline, summer camp, birthday celebrations, weekend family trips and back to school chaos (not to mention crazy work hours for my oldest)…I have a feeling I’ll be counting down the days till September when we go on a two week family vacation (I know, I know…the kids just get back to the rhythm of school and I’m taking them out for 2 weeks…poor planning on my part).

But…there’s also something exciting happening this month.

Stillwater Rising is on sale for only $2! I love this story – the characters – their experience/determination/love – caught my heart. I have more books in the series to write and I can’t wait to start working on them but until then…if you haven’t read this story, now is the time to do so! I realize it may be a hard read for many people – it’s a story we see all too often in the headlines – but my goal with writing about the town of Stillwater Bay was NOT to focus on the tragedy that rocked this small town but rather to focus on how they pulled together to help one another heal. It’s a story that will touch your heart and I hope you’ll give it a try.
