The ever-growing to-be-read pile is essentially a bottomless pit of amazing books that I have yet to get to. This makes it a tough choice to decide what to read next. Now to cut it down to just five books? That’s a challenge! After I finish reading The Lucifer Effect by Philip Zimbardo these books are on my top reading list:

  1. The Narcissism Epidemic – Living in the age of Entitlement:This book is by Jean M. Twenge, PH.D. and W. Keith Campbell, PH.D. and focuses primarily on North American’s obsession with one’s self. It dives into the usage of social media, dating culture, mainstream media and more.
  2. Solitude:Seeing a theme of psychology books here? I find the mind fascinating. This book explores the power of being in our own company vs the constant stimulation of being connected with people online and in person.
  3. Culture Crash: The Killing of the Creative Class: Scott Timberg dives into the question – where do artists fit in the modern world? He explores why most artists can’t make a living and why the health of America’s culture is at risk.
  4. Secret Religions: Religion is a big interest of mine. It is probably why I write about the supernatural so frequently. This book by David V. Barrett dives into all the strange cults, sects and esoteric religions of the world.
  5. 5,000 Words Per Hour: Write Faster, Write Smarter: Chris Fox’s name has been brought up to me countless times by other authors and this particular book I have heard plenty of good things about. To improve my craft, I’ll be digging into this to see how one can write 5,000 words per hour.

Favourite drink while I read

In the mornings I am a coffee snob and need an americano.

At night, I switch it up from beer or whiskey.

I read a lot about psychology because I write gritty stuff like my new novelYEGman

If you took Marvel’s The Punisherand put him in Sin City, you’d experience the life of ex-cop vigilante YEGman. He deals with his own violent tendencies while hunting down the city’s most notorious gang, the Crystal Moths. His actions attract the attention of a rebellious journalism student who aspires to cover the developing story.
