Are the Big 6 Publishers Really Dying?

I know I talk a lot about indie publishing on here – but for the record – I’m not against traditional publishing (just wanted to say that). In fact – one day I would LOVE to announce that I landed a contract – can we talk about a major party? I think a huge chocolate fountain would be in order for that one!

A friend forwarded a link that I wanted to share. It holds a lot of truths and eye openers. Here’s the thing – as a writer, we would be foolish to think that there is only one road to publication. That’s not the case. There should be no ‘indie camp vs traditional camp vs small press camp’. We should all be celebrating with one another no matter then venue we’ve used to reach our dreams!

Take a look at the link. Tell me your thoughts. Let’s share 🙂

I have to agree with one of the comments on Anne’s blog, to me this is a fabulous time. It seems as new avenues are busting open in on both sides of publishing. I hope traditional publishers do very well, just as I hope self-publishing pioneers do exceptionally well too. It means OPPORTUNITY. lol
Thanks for pointing out the link, Steena!

Steena, you’re SO right. There is not just one road to success. I think the best thing we can do as authors is to keep an open mind. Be open to any and all opportunities. The exciting thing is that now, for writers, there are options!

Steena–Thanks so much for spreading the word about Mark Williams’ guest post on my blog. Mark is (very successfully) indie published himself, but he’s getting tired of the us/them thinking that’s been going around the blogosphere. He’d love to land a big publishing contract–if with Amazon or one of the Big 6–and so would I (I’m with two small presses.) Yes, some people in the Big 6 have been pretty stupid (and nasty) recently, but others are embracing the new paradigm and learning from their mistakes. What we have now is options, and that’s good for us all.

My pleasure Anne! I agree 100% – the us/them mentality needs to stop. We are all pursuing our dreams in the way that’s best for us – individually.
